my battle with testicular cancer

In October 2015, Engage Live founder Donal Doherty got married in his native Derry, Northern Ireland. The photographers on the day were LA-based Mike Colón and his second shooter, Daniel Cruz.

In early March 2016, Daniel was diagnosed with a form of testicular cancer known as Embryonal Carcinoma.

Sadly, after surgery to remove his left testicle, further tests confirmed that the cancer had spread to Daniel’s lungs. He is now a Stage 3 cancer patient.

Shortly after his diagnosis, Daniel recorded the first of a series of vlogs documenting his experience in order to raise awareness of testicular cancer among males around the world. About 1 in every 263 males will be diagnosed with testicular cancer at some point in their life. Watch Daniel’s vlog above.

In order to pay for his treatment, Daniel’s friends have created a GoFundMe page to assist with the financial burden. We encourage those who can to donate a little, or indeed to consider donating to other support or research cancer charities.

‘A nicer man you could not meet,’ says Donal. ‘It was fantastic to have Daniel photograph my wedding, and to spend time with him after the ceremony. Everyone at Engage Live sends Daniel our love and best wishes as he continues his fight with cancer.’
