'Bride in Lingerie', by Jamie Sia

‘Bride in Lingerie’, by Jamie Sia

Congratulations to Leeds-based Jamie Sia, winner of Engage Photo of the Week #5, for this boudoir shot entitled ‘Bride in Lingerie’.

‘It was taken in a hallway of an old manor house (for legal reasons, I am unable to disclose the exact location or name of the house) and the photo was taken as part of a styled boudoir shoot I did at the house. (Blog yet to be published.) I did the shoot to try and portray the story of a bride getting dressed into her wedding lingerie, into her dress and then preparing for the evening’s entertainment – this shot telling the latter end of that story.

‘I love painting with light and had this shot in my mind for a while and got really lucky first time. I had been practising painting with light at home and had done a bit at some weddings I’ve done, but nothing had been as successful as this. I took my inspiration from the example of photographers Katie Fairclough and Joel Skingle using the same method for their wedding photography. I just love the look of it. It’s so dramatic.

‘For this shot, I used a Canon 6D with a 24-70mm lens @24mm / ISO 1600 / 30 second exposure / Single Flash on trigger @ 1/16 power, 24mm zoom / Two camping lights stuck together / Post Processing: VSCO film preset – Kodak Portra 160+ in Lightroom, Tweaked and finished off in Alien Skin Exposure.’
